Mental training means: „Mental systematic execution to some movement
and series of movement regularly, with a strong concentration improve the
process of movement and the movement coordination” (NÁDORI, 1993.).
We examined the problem of movement learning with questionnaire and
a learning experiment (with 3 parallel methods). Evaluating the results of
132 Hungarian pubescent and juvenile gymnasts, our conclusions are the
following:
– Very few gymnasts and trainers adopt the mental training in Hungary,
they only use it during the competition (imaginatio).
– The better competitors use it for learning element while lower divison
sportsmen use it at competitions.
– The well-trained gymnasts imagine the movement inside and they can
use mental training more effective.
– If the mental training is used afther acquiring a relax method (Linde-
mann PT) the speed and the accuracy of movement will improve.
