PRESCHOOLERS BODY WEIGHT AND SPORTS HABITS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE RESEARCH IN EGER

Abstract

Obesity is a serious problem worldwide. The WHO classified this top 10 of
the most significant health problems. Childhood obesity is increasing. In our
research we examined preschool-aged children, we were interested in their
sport-habits, theirs parents sport-habits, what do they think about sport and
exercise, which sports do they like and prefer, etc. We were examined the re-
lationship between BMI index and their physical activities. A correlation was
found between exercise habits and BMI percentile values of the age. Children
belonging to the category of lean 85.7% of normal weight it 80% of parents
used to play sports, which were significantly higher than those of obese coun-
terparts who only 53.3% of them do sports with their parents (chi2 = 6.1; p
= 0.033).
Parents value the role of mediator proved decisive in the kindergarten move-
ment-based lifestyle elements of design, and it was confirmed that the first
scene of the family socialization.
