THE INFLUENCE OF THE MODIFIED RULES ON THE EFFICIENCY OF VOLLEYBALL (LIBERO PLAYER)

Abstract

In the last few years the system of rules in the game of volleyball has
been modified essentially. To enhance the teams protection a special player,
called „libero” has the permission to play. However the activity of this
player is restricted to field protection and gambling the serves.
Our questions:
– Are there permanent libero player in the game of teams;
– What kind of player is changed by the libero;
– What is the efficiency of the libero in the protection;
Our studies have been carried out among elite, adult teams. There were
115 games during 19 women’s and men’s matches in which 5056 serves
were processed.
Findings:
– Most of the teams have a well qualified, permanent libero player,
however other teams are looking for the best person;
– The most frequently player changed by the libero is the center, but
there are great difference between the gender;
– The efficiency of the game of teams is basically influenced by the fast
acquirement of new rules;
