Pro&Contra (Central European Studies in Humanities) aims to give a platform for publication for PhD students and young academics (within five years of receiving their doctoral degree) first, and foremost from the East-Central European region. The journal’s aim is to provide a dedicated forum for the exchange and advancement of knowledge, with a particular focus on this region.
Our journal seeks to publish original, high-quality interdisciplinary articles that broaden the academic community’s understanding across the humanities and social sciences, bringing together perspectives from fields such as philosophy, history, literature, linguistics, anthropology, political science, and sociology.
Pro&Contra also wishes to provide room for book reviews that can serve as a reflection of the latest academic literature in the above mentioned fields.
We do not publish opinion pieces and essays, since our journal focuses on research-based studies that give a valuable contribution to their respective academic field.
Pro&Contra is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal. We typically contact prospective authors within five business days of submission. Our review process is usually completed within two months, and we aim to provide constructive, practical feedback to help authors strengthen their work where needed. Before publication, all authors receive native-language editorial support to refine the final version of their article.
