THE CONVERGENCE OF SKI AND WELLNESS TOURISM

Abstract

One of the most important forms of active tourism is ski tourism. In recent
years interesting changes have been felt in ski tourism: the wellness hotels espe-
cially in Austria offer more and more wellness services for their guests, so the
ski resorts start functioning as wellness centres. These changes provide a good
answer for the aroused questions concerning tourism. (sesonality, global warm-
ing, the risk of snow), and comply with the international trends related to life-
styles and values.
Studying this phenomenon is also important since wellness – besides skiing –
will gain more and more importance in the other forms of tourism as well in the
future.
