SURVEY OF HEALTH CONDITION AND PRACTICE OF PHYSICAL TRAINING AMONGST PENSIONERS LIVING IN EGER

Abstract

Statistical analyses revealed that the average age of the Hungárián popula-
tion has been constantly increasing. In the same time also the life expectancy inc-
reases which is valued positively on an individual level, however the physiological
changes occurring by ageing need to be considered due to their impairment of
elderly people’s health condition, physical independence hence the quality of life.
Subjects o f the study have been chosen randomly from those members of
pensioner clubs who have the place of residence in Eger. The participants have
been requested by the database of the Civil Service Centre of Eger (N = 30; Mage =
66,76 ± 6,028) and have been ranked as a group of physically active (N = 16; Mage
= 67,19 ± 7,045) and a group o f physically inactive subjects (N = 13; Mage = 66,23
± 4,711) according to their lifestyle. Men and women alsó occurred in the pattern,
we examined 7 men (Mage = 68,29 ± 7,67) and 23 women (Mage = 67,04 ± 5,51).
According to the age of the participants we have not found any appraisable
statistic difference, nevertheless during the cross tabulation analysis ( x 2 = 0,011)
the qualification level variable has shown a significant difference tó the physical
activity level. Taking the level o f physical activity into account, the two samp-
le t-test regarding tó the cardiopulmonary exercise test has shown a significant
difference by the power (W) (p = 0,021).
