THE EDUCATION OF CAMPING WITH PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AT SCHOOLS
Abstract
It is an important action programme these days for our students to organ-
ize camps regularly in elementary and secondary school.
For the last few years cycling and aquatic tourism has increased world-
wide. When going in for sports, we have to consider not to damage the envi-
ronment, mountains, rivers.
Environmentalists often write about environmental destruction and they
blame the rising of tourism all over the world. Doing a sport these are always
some damages, but they could be prevented. These environment destroying
factors are the following:
– The ski grounds are crowded, so the pollution of the environment
rises.
– The chemical treatment of ski grounds.
– The accumulation of litter on ski grounds and nearby.
In contrast with summer tourism, the number of guest nights in winter be-
tween 1950–85 has increased from 7 to 43 million. The environmentalists
fear of using territories, because in many cases when building a camp or a
ski ground they don’t take care of the features of the ground, and they dam-
age the environment by artificial changes.
Some of the environmental dangers can be prevented if they are realized
in time. When camping we have to call the student’s attention to the impor-
tance of protecting the environment. The objective should be the education
and enlargement of knowledge instead if prohibition. The managers of ski
trainers accepted the more environment protective ski training. Education of
environment protection is in the syllabus as well.
The camps are suitable for meeting theoretical knowledge in practice.
They should e educated to protect the environment.
Finally, some advice to protect the environment:
1. Ski, water, touristic camps should be organized not just in well-
known places.
2. Camps should possibly be approached in the nearest way by public
transport, otherwise the pollution increases, and parking places will
appear causing environment damages.
3. Protect the environment from litter, waste, damaging plants.
4. Leaving ski grounds result in different damages like the danger of
avalanches.
