Our objective is to verify that, due to their four characteristics (activity with-
out interest, free activity, enjoyable activity and activity that may be organized
for every age group), motion games serve as an excellent means of personality
development in family and school alike.
A historical overview goes back to the development of folk games in the
Middle Ages, when the entire family played and spent Sundays and holidays
together, regardless of age and gender.
A comparative research conducted in three Western European countries
(France, Switzerland, Austria), with special emphasis on the description of the
Vienna experiment, the complex developing-educational effect of games is veri-
fied. Parent-student game afternoons and weekend competitions organized by
schools provide a connecting bond between schools and families. Games provide
an opportunity and method for harmonizing the work of the two educational
playgrounds.
