THE SELECTION PROCESS IN YOUTH TEAM HANDBALL

Abstract

The popularity of handball in Europe and in Hungary has considerably increased in the past years. The responsibility of the coaches and trainers is to make a selection of players who will be able to play in the national team in various age categories. The HHF began the selection of talents in 2016. The procedure of the central selection is made up of four levels. (count y, regional, national and scientific levels.) During the procedure in the first three steps the talented players execute specific handball tests with regard to their own positions on court. In this selection process we are looking for the best 60 players from 342 talents examined. The best 60 players participate in a humanbiologic examination. Af ter analysing the results of both tests the HHF could make a good ranking among the players of the given age group. We can share the result of these tests and examinations with the coaches of the various clubs, who can prepare the further training programs on basis of the test results, thus ensuring the continuous development of the selected players.
