Abstract

One of the most important moving forces of the 21st century’s economic and social processes is the spread of information technology and their widespread use. The presence of ICT tools has a direct impact not just on our ever yday life, but also on education, thus challenging today’s educational system. As well as other school subjects, physical education (PE) is emerging in terms of integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into regular classes (Kretschmann, 2015). However, in order for PE teachers to be able to use ICT tools into their teaching work, they must have basic computer skills, confident use of equipment, and receive appropriate training during their studies, as there is a concrete opportunit y for change in attitude formation, which makes it possible to use digital devices in schools. The purpose of this paper is to explore the ICT usage, internet and internet access habits of Physical Education students at Eszterházy Károly Universit y and their relation to the educational use of digital devices. As a method of our research, we used self-prepared questionnaire tests, completed by 60 graduating physical education students. Based on the results we state that the students are competent computer users, in addition to traditional notes and textbooks, they use different ICT tools for their learning; and the vast majority of them would support the use of digital devices during practice training as well. The results of our study can contribute to a better understanding of the field of research and also ser ves as a novelt y since examination of PE teachers has not been in the focus of research in Hungary yet.
