The pedagogical role of the coach and the athlete-coach relationship are often examined (Giacobbi et al 2002, Myers et al 2005, Poczwardowski et al 2006, Trzaskoma-Bicsérdy et al 2007, Gyömbér et al 2012, Kiss et al 2018). However, there is no study that specifically analyzes this relationship in terms of women’s football. This study intends to demonstrate, in relation to women’s football, how this previously unknown situation, which arose as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, has affected the relationship between coaches and athletes and what new methods coaches have had to use in response. The most appropriate tool for the effectiveness of the research was the application of exploratory qualitative research methods (interviews and document analysis). Interviewees (n = 5) have been in leadership positions in women’s football for at least. athlete attachment and player motivation, which further enhanced the coach’s pedagogical view, knowledge and practice. It may be appropriate to organize further pedagogical training in the future where coaches can receive professional help on how to deal with such situations.
