In the Service of the One-Party State’s Religious Policy: the Career Paths of the Appointees of the Office for Church Affairs in Heves County. The aim of the study is to compile a comprehensive register of the appointees working for the Hungarian State’s Office of Church Affairs in the Heves County Council and Archbishop’s Office between 1951 and 1956. The focus of the research is placed on the appointees’ education, their past, and their ascend within the party’s hierarchy. The starting point of the research is the establishment of the Office for Church Affairs in 1951. The endpoint is set to 1956, when the revolution created an interval in the work of the already underperforming organization. At that time the work was suspended, albeit temporarily, and the employees of both the Budapest and the rural offices left their posts. Due to the importance of the topic, the study also touches on the careers of those responsible for the revival of ecclesiastical supervision after the uprising.
