In Hungary, introduction of everyday physical education was considered to
be a significant change in educational policy regarding physical education
in schools. Therefore, the main aim of our work is to uncover the changes
of the ”Physical education and sports” content area. On one hand, we have
been analyzing the popularity of physical education as school subject. On the
other hand, conforming to the goals of the NAT 2012 (Nemzeti Alaptanterv,
National Curriculum), we were seeking the answers to the question what kind
of positive and negative values and attitudes are present among the school
children in connection with everyday physical education (n = 1074).
Our results clearly show that a very high percentage of students (95%) like
physical education classes. However, we have discovered significant differen-
ces when examining this question separating genders; boys like physical edu
cation notably more (p = 0,000). The role of physical education teachers and
educators, acting as motivating factors appear with outstanding importance
in our survey.
As a summary, based on statements by students, it can be stated that aims
expressed in the NAT and included in our survey are clearly represented in
the opinions of students regarding everyday physical education.
