THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AND SPORTING EVENTS IN DEBRECEN

Abstract

Here we present the results of the analysis of sporting events organized in
Debrecen in the years 2014 and 2015. All together 275 events were included
in our database. The seasonal distribution and the location of the events as
well as the different sports that were involved were analyzed together with the
role the city of Debrecen or the University of Debrecen took in organizing
the events. It is concluded that the distribution of sports fits well with the
existing infrastructure, and both the City and the University play a major
initiating role in the organization and use their establishments thoughtfully.
This confirms that the close collaboration between the City and the Universi-
ty brought about a progress in this field, too.
