The game- and tactics-based sports game teaching methods that appeared in the Anglo Saxon areas at the end of the twentieth century are still hardly known and applied in everyday physical education in Hungary - despite the fact that their effectiveness has been confirmed by numerous international studies. One of the arguments in favour of the so-called reform models is the potential of transfer effects, according to which it is sufficient to teach students the general tactical/logical basics of sports belonging to the family of invasive sports games (football, handball, basketball, floorball, ultimate frisbee, etc.). As Ultimate Frisbee requires the least technical training of the team sports included in the National Core Curriculum, it is certainly the easiest sport to teach using the tactical method. In our research, we conducted semi-structured interviews with eight physical education teachers who teach Ultimate Frisbee in public and higher education. The results show that physical education teachers in public schools perceive more transferable elements between Ultimate Frisbee and other invasion team games and a more positive perception of the specific characteristics of the sport. All interviewees indicated that a limit to the applicability of the GPAI method is the amount of time and energy required. In terms of benefits, university teachers tended to emphasize the applicability in competitive sport, in training environments, while many of those working in public education considered the information provided on the GPAI process as useful feedback on the work of the physical education teacher, which could be integrated into the reflective cycle. Our research suggests that Ultimate Frisbee is a suitable way to start teaching invasive ball games, but that GPAI in this form is not yet an appropriate tool for PE teachers.
